Boulder County will reopen several parks, open space areas and trail sections at sunrise on Friday, county officials have announced.
The county Parks and Open Space Department has determined that the following properties are safe, accessible and can reopen for public use: the Rabbit Mountain Open Space; the Boulder County Fairgrounds, including the Cattail Pond trail; all Gunbarrel-area trails, including Cottontail Trail and neighboring connecting trails; the Longmont to Boulder LoBo Trail between North 83rd Street and Ogallala Road, although the stretch between Ogallala and North 95th Street remains closed; Little Gaynor Lake; and Dodd Lake.
Also being reopened are Walden Ponds’ Duck Pond loop and boardwalk. There will be “very limited fishing access” near Walden Ponds’ parking areas, county officials said, and the fishing pier remains closed.
County officials said additional parks will be reopened as the staff can assess conditions and do the work necessary to make them safe and accessible. A full list of updates will be posed at www.BoulderCountyOpenSpace.org/trails.
