A vehicle fire has reduced Interstate 70 westbound in Silverthorne to one lane, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a tweet about 10:30 p.m.

Independence Day traffic is clogging Colorado's roadways, with the Department of Transportation announcing multi-hour delays on major routes statewide.

At roughly 6 p.m., the department said there were two-plus hour delays heading from Lookout Mountain into Idaho Springs.

Earlier in the day, there were 90-plus minute delays from Colorado 470 to Idaho Springs.

"Heavy traffic likely to continue through the day," the department tweeted.

U.S. 24 in Colorado Springs was backed up after a vehicle fire closed the highway three miles west of Manitou Springs. The road is now clear and open.
