Boulder County Parks and Open Space is inviting all woodworkers to request to use its black walnut wood for art creation.
Parks and open space is "offering woodworkers an opportunity to work with unique wood and have the woodworking creations considered for display at the exhibit," a release states.
A large black walnut on Ramey Homestead open space contracted thousand cankers disease and was removed for safety reasons.
Woodworkers are encouraged to put in a request for the chance to create art with the black walnut wood, and it could be considered to be displayed in a Boulder County woodworking exhibit in October 2020 held at The Great Frame Up, 430 Main St., Longmont.
Interested woodworkers need to submit a request for wood by Feb. 27. Visit www.BoulderCountyOpenSpace.org/woodworking to schedule a wood collection appointment on either March 14 between 8 a.m. and noon or April 2 between 1-5 p.m.
