The fire at a Lafayette home on Wednesday afternoon that sent two men to a Denver hospital is believed to have been started by a hash-oil explosion, police said today.
When emergency crews responded to the fire they found a "large marijuana cultivation inside of the home," according to a Lafayette police news release.
Police drafted a search warrant for the home and are now investigating the case as a possible hash-oil extraction lab explosion, according to Lafayette Police Chief Rick Bashor.
Lafayette Fire Chief Dave Friedel said Wednesday that the condition of the two men that were transported to a Denver hospital with severe burns were not yet known.
Friedel did not whether the two lived at the home, which is in the 1000 block of Modred Street.
Firefighters also revived a dog that was inside the home during the fire.
