A Niwot High School graduate is among four American students recovering from injuries after being sprayed with acid Sunday morning outside a train station in France, according to Boston College.

Kelsey Koston wrote on her Facebook page around 4 p.m. MDT Sunday, confirming she was attacked.

"This morning my friends and I were traveling from Marseille to Paris when we were attacked at the train station," Kosten wrote. "It was a weak form of acid, and after being treated, we are all doing much better. Please keep my two friends who suffered greater injuries in your thoughts.

"I am incredibly grateful to the police, medical staff and U.S. Consulate for helping us through this experience. I am looking forward to returning to Copenhagen and continuing my studies abroad. Thank you all for your concern."

Boston College in a statement Monday said that Kosten, now a junior studying at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, was with three other Boston College juniors — Courtney Siverling, Charlotte Kaufman and Michelle Krug, enrolled in the college's Paris program — when they were sprayed, some in the face, at the Marseille-Saint Charles station.

The college said they were all released after being treated at a hospital in Marseille, in southern France.

Nick Gozik, who directs the college's Office of International Programs, said in the statement that, "It appears that the students are fine, considering the circumstances, though they may require additional treatment for burns."

"We have been in contact with the students and their parents and remain in touch with French officials and the U.S. Embassy regarding the incident," he said.

Police arrested a 41-year-old French woman who they said suffers from mental illness, and they do not believe the incident is related to terrorism, according to the news release.

Boston College in the statement said all the students plan to continue studying abroad in Europe, "and offered forgiveness to the woman who sprayed them with an acid solution."
