F inals time is one of the most stressful and crammed time periods of young students' lives. There are a myriad of tasks to complete and little to no time for sleep or relaxation. It is one of the pivotal points in every year of your college career. Many A's and B's are dependent upon high marks on final papers and exams. As the inevitable all-nighters creep closer and closer, remember that you are not alone in your finals studying and preparation.
There are many resources available on campus that kick into overdrive once finals approach. Many resource centers and service offices offer many fun programs to help you focus, relax, unwind or all of the above. That is not to mention the free food that is often accompanying these various events all around campus. These resources are always available during the year by different centers and organizations on campus, but they really kick into high gear around finals week.
As much as studying for final exams and prepping for final papers can get crazy and unrelenting, taking the time to properly relax and have a break can be the difference between effective studying and ineffective studying.
Once such resource center that is providing finals relief is the Student Outreach and Retention Center for Equity, or SORCE for short. SORCE is providing several events and efforts to help students relax and unwind during finals and the days leading up to them. The first event is the Study Slam on May 1 from noon to 4 p.m. in UMC 227. This event will have a free taco bar for students and study materials such as blue books will also be given out to students as well. Study slam helps to reinforce and strengthen the bonds of our diverse and growing community here on CU's campus. It is a great event to relax and gain some essentials in your pre-finals study routine.
Another event we are having is Breakfast for Finals on May 6 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in UMC 227. The event will begin with a free breakfast for students to come and eat before starting their final exams. Throughout the day there will be various campus organizations and resources centers available to talk about health and wellness during finals week and beyond. This event helps to provide a place for students to unwind and relax before their finals week really kicks off into high gear. If you're looking for a great place to study and also unwind, make sure you come into the SORCE office located in UMC 227.
