L ike many of you, I'm swamped with midterms this week. So, of course, a new meme has burst onto the interwebs in an attempt to distract me for hours on end... and it's been winning.

Unless you've been ascetic the last couple of weeks, you probably already know what the Harlem Shake is. If you indeed had abandoned all indulgences, welcome back! But, um... the Harlem Shake will probably make you regret your return to society.

I've spent the last few days devouring Harlem Shakes in an attempt to find the very best ones -- fortunately, unlike McDonald's Shamrock Shakes, the Harlem variety has exactly zero calories.

The meme, most commonly in video form, centers on dubstep song "Harlem Shake." It typically features one person dancing like a jackass while everyone else around him just does their thing. But then the song "drops" and all of a sudden, everyone is going HAM in ridiculous costumes.

Sound confusing and stupid? Yeah, it kind of is. But that's what makes it awesome, and that's why everyone is doing it.

Thanks to my professional 'crastinastion skills, I've found some of the best Boulder-based Shakes to share with you.

CU Shake

Probably the craziest on the list is the video produced by Trapfest, which was shot on Farrand Field featuring our lovely Flatirons. More than 1700 RSVP'd to the event on Facebook, put on their ragefaces and went crazy on Farrand... some people even brought a couch.

C-Unit Shake

The C-Unit decided to set off a Harlem Shake explosion at their huge Valentine's Day game, even getting everyone's favorite twins in on the action. This video truly shows the power of the C-Unit and why CU has the best basketball student section in the country.

Golden West Shake

Don't be fooled -- the Harlem Shake isn't limited to just crazy college kids. A group of retirees from Golden West showed us they can go just as hard, giving me hope for my future as a senior citizen.

Alpha Gamma Omega Shake

The Christian fraternity, AGO, decided to show everyone that Christian boys know how to get down in their own way. I don't want to spoil this one since it's made me laugh the most... you really just have to watch it.

Pivot Desk Shake

Even Boulder startups have jumped in on the fun. My favorite is PivotDesk, which made its website dance instead of a video -- it's so simple, but had me in ROFL-copter mode, replaying it three or four times.

While some of us here at the Daily have decided to take part in the #HarlemHoldout, the Harlem Shake has made its way into my heart -- especially when featuring these hilarious Boulderites.
