A five-week period of DUI enforcement begins Friday across the state and in Boulder County, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The Colorado State Patrol, with other local law enforcement agencies, will crack down on impaired driving through Oct. 23, when they expect people will be drinking at football games, beer festivals and other fall festivities.
According to CDOT, 1,498 drivers were arrested last year for DUI during the September-October enforcement.
Law enforcement agencies across the state cited 1,184 impaired drivers during the Labor Day DUI enforcement period from Aug. 18 through Sept. 5. It was an increase from 964 DUI arrests last year.
