Senior linebacker Paul Vigo is one of CU's captains, but has yet to play a single snap on defense. Limited in Week 1 because of a stinger, he's healthy now, but will have a tough time cracking the lineup, he said.
"For the competitiveness in me, it's hard (to not play), but at the end of the day, we're winning and it's best for the team," he said. "That's what I learned to do as a captain and a leader."
On the majority of plays, CU uses just two linebackers. Derrick Webb has played all 148 snaps, while Addison Gillam had played 147. Three other linebackers -- Woodson Greer (55 plays), Lowell Williams (16 plays) and Brady Daigh (one play) -- have combined for just 72 plays.
"Those guys have been playing really well," Vigo said. "I just encourage them to keep going. It's going to be real hard to go out there and get some playing time, so I've just got to participate in special teams."
Instead of rewarding his players with helmet stickers, MacIntyre said he's keeping the helmets clean and giving his players Crunch bars for good plays. "Some of them have been asking for Snickers, so I'm going to have to give them some Snickers sometimes, but right now it's Crunch bars," MacIntyre said. ...
