Saturday night was not Colorado's greatest effort on defense.

The Buffaloes, however, were stellar on offense -- especially at the free throw line -- and rolled to an 84-70 win against Georgia at Coors Events Center.

The No. 21 Buffs (11-2) closed out non-conference play with the win against the Bulldogs (6-5), who had won five in a row coming in.

"To be 11-2 with the caliber of schedule that we played I think says a lot about this group," CU head coach Tad Boyle said. "We've got a lot of basketball ahead of us. Our non-conference portion is done and now we're going into an 18-game marathon of the Pac-12. Our league is very, very good."

Against the Bulldogs, five Buffs scored in double figures -- led by Askia Booker's 19 points -- and CU set a school-record by going 26-for-26 at the free throw line. The previous record for most free throws without a miss was 14, on Feb. 16, 1980, at Nebraska.

Overall, CU has made 28 straight from the line, tying the school record.

"Coach (Jean) Prioleau said it one time and I asked him to not speak about it again. Coach (Rodney) Billups came up a few minutes later and said it on my right; I asked him not to talk about it again," Boyle said of the perfect night at the line.

Boyle said that free throw shooting is such a mental thing that he doesn't talk about it much with his team, and that held true Saturday.

"I told our team, obviously I'm proud of what they did at the line, but I don't talk about it when we miss them, I'm not going to talk about them when we make them," he said.

It certainly helped the Buffs get a win, but that wasn't all they did well on offense. All five of CU's starters scored in double figures. In addition to Booker, Spencer Dinwiddie (17 points), Josh Scott (14), Xavier Johnson (13) and Wesley Gordon (10) also scored in double figures.

Scott posted his third-consecutive double-double, with 13 rebounds. Johnson scored 11 of his points in the first half.

Overall, CU made 51 percent of its shots from the floor and out-rebounded the Bulldogs 34-22.

"I thought it was a great offensive performance by our team," Boyle said. "Best one we've had this year."

They needed it, because Georgia tested the CU defense. The Bulldogs came into the game shooting 48 percent as a team for the season, but that came against a schedule that ranks among the nation's worst.

On Saturday, Georgia hit 50 percent (28 of 56) from the floor. That helped the Bulldogs stay in the game a while and pull within 68-58 with 6:10 to go.

Boyle credited Georgia for getting the job done offensively, but also knows his team didn't play well on defense.

"I just feel that defensively, we have to get better," he said. "There are going to be nights in Pac-12 Conference play where we don't shoot 51 percent and maybe we don't' out-rebound the opponent by double digits. Those are the nights where we're going to have to rely on our defense and it's not good enough right now. Bottom line. Our defense is not good enough for Pac-12 level play if we want to compete for a championship."

The Buffs will begin their quest for a Pac-12 title on Thursday when Oregon State comes to Boulder.
