University of Colorado runner Dani Jones has been named the 2018 Collegiate Women's Athlete of the Year by the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.
Jones will be honored at the 55th annual Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 3, at the Hilton Denver City Center with the other award winners, which include former CU running back Phillip Lindsay, who was named the Professional Athlete of the Year for 2018.
The Phoenix, Ariz. native had an outstanding senior cross country season, winning the 2018 NCAA individual championship while leading the Buffaloes to the team championships; CU's first women's title since 2004. With her victory came many honors, including the prestigious Honda Sports Award for Cross Country. Additionally, Jones was named the USTFCCCA Female Athlete of the Year.
A three-time All-American, Jones won her second straight individual Pac-12 Cross Country title in October and earned Pac-12 Female Runner of the Year honors for the second time in as many years. She also earned her third all-region honor in November as she led the Buffs with a sixth-place individual finish.
