Bio: I was in middle-school when I "broke" my first story. Sidelined from playing summer neighborhood basketball games because of a sprained ankle, I would watch them, keep stats and write up short, post-game articles. My grandma encouraged me by paying me fifty cents a story. (Factor in inflation … that's a pretty sweet gig). We used to pull out trampolines, lower the hoop and have slam-dunk contests. Neighborhood dads, though, put the kibosh on that when we all got braces, and they feared that our newly wired teeth would get stuck in the net and they'd find us dangling from the hoop. It was the hottest story on the block.

While at the University of Colorado, I held positions on The Campus Press student newspaper as a staff writer, editor and editor-in-chief. Before coming to the Camera as a full-time staffer, I interned here as well as at The Denver Post. Sometimes, as an intern, if you start decorating your desk with family photos and continue to turn in timesheets -- they keep you around.
