BOULDER, Colo. -
Let's face it: Lugging a purse onto the dance floor can seriously inhibit booty shaking.
That's why Shelby Overly, a Boulder resident who frequents the New Foundry's'80s nights, leaves hers at home.
"When I go dancing, I usually just stuff my phone, credit card and ID in my back jeans pocket," Overly said. "But sometimes it's annoying because it makes my butt look big."
Jenny Kaffer, a recent University of Colorado graduate, said she nearly always carries a purse because "I have too much stuff." But sometimes, she admitted, she'll stuff her phone in her bra.
Ladies, we've all done it. That bra stuffing comes in all forms -- cash, credit cards, lipstick, phone, tissue at a wedding, hell, Tina Fey even pulled her Emmy acceptance speech out of her bra.
When pants and skirts don't have pockets, that junk has to go somewhere.
But now there's a solution: the RackTrap, a personal bra pocket designed by comedian Marla Schultz and some friends.
"When you go out to the clubs, you always want to have your ID and credit card on you," Schultz said. "You don't have to worry about setting your purse down, heading to the dance floor, then forgetting it. God forbid you get wasted and leave your purse at the club.
"You always have everything on you in that one little pocket."
The idea came to Schultz out of experience. One night out in New York, Schultz said she shoved her cash and credit cards into her bra, because her skinny jeans only had faux pockets. On a trip to the bathroom, that money and plastic tumbled out as Schultz bent over to cover the seat with sheets of toilet paper.
"It all came flying into the toilet," said Schultz, who lives in Los Angeles. "The cash, credit cards, even phone. Right into the toilet."
The next day she called her marketing-executive friends, Jackie Saril and Karen Hertz, and they told her she needed "bra pockets." The threesome, along with "bra maven" Steve Bernstein, then created the RackTrap.
The RackTrap was designed out of hypoallergenic, soft material, Schultz said. It can be bought as a four pack -- a white, black, tan and sports version -- or as a single pocket.
The poly material is designed to keep everything dry, which is great for exercising or dancing, Schultz said.
"You can go out for a run, then stop and get a cup of coffee," Schultz said. "The cashier at Starbucks isn't going to be completely grossed out that you're handing him soggy, wet, sweaty money."
Schultz said the RacktTap is washable and is completely undetectable.
"It's great for women on the go," said Schultz, who said she often goes out "double barreled."
"I put cash, credit cards and everything on one side and then my business cards and my car key in the other one."
And really, who's going to complain about a little added padding to the bosom?
