A CLASSIC, DAY OR NIGHT Paris Fashion Week runways generated quite a bit of buzz this month, drawing editors, socialites, actresses and musicians for a taste of the lush garments on display. But the runway wasn't the only place generating style buzz. Some of the best looks were spotted off the runways, worn by spectators in the front rows and in the streets outside the shows. Songstress Alicia Keys was a prime example.
Keys appeared in the front rows at Chanel, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Givenchy. For each show she played with textures and accessories, but kept a classic black-and-white color palette. At Chanel, Keys donned a low-cut black vest and a jeweled head piece; at Valentino, a sheer black dress with velvet skirt; for YSL, a black jumpsuit and lavish white coat; and for Stella McCartney, a body-conscious black-and-white dress with matching pumps.
Keys' most versatile look surfaced at the Givenchy show, where she wore a long tuxedo jacket by Givenchy, white blouse with hidden buttons, black cigarette-leg pants and strappy heels. She wore her tuxedo jacket over her shoulders like a cape and also had on a bold cross necklace. After the show, Keys serenaded Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci with her hit "Empire State of Mind" at the after-party at L'Arc.
To get Keys' Givenchy look, try the Really skinny pants from Gap for $59.95, and the Asos pintuck winged collar shirt from Asos.com for $53.72, featuring a front panel with hidden buttons. Accessorize with the black faux diamond cross necklace from Rods.com for $39.95 and sling the white blazer from Zara.com over your shoulders for $129.
This goth-gone-chic look will have you ready for any runway that life throws your way.
