The heat is returning to Colorado after a slight break, and with it, red flag warnings of high-fire danger have been issued for a little more than half the state.

Wednesday is expected to reach 91 degrees in Denver, according to the National Weather Service.

The rest of the week through the weekend is expected to be in the high 80s to low 90s, mostly clear, according to the weather service.

A red flag warning was issued on Tuesday for counties including northern El Paso County including Monument and Black Forest; Fremont County including Canon City; and southern El Paso County including Fort Carson, Colorado Springs. The warning also covers Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.
