The Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery store in Boulder is expected to open on Oct. 2, officials for the grocery confirmed Monday.

The 53,500-square-foot grocery store at 2972 Iris Ave. in the Diagonal Plaza shopping center will be the Bentonville, Ark.-based discount retail giant's first store in Boulder and first Neighborhood Market in Boulder County.

Walmart is expecting to employ at least 85 people at the new store, which sits in a space formerly occupied by Ross and PetSmart.
