Boulder police have released surveillance video and photos in an effort to help identify three men suspected in an assault and robbery that happened behind the Nitro Club sometime after 2 a.m. on Nov. 16.
Two men told police that three suspects attacked them in the 1100 block of Lawry Lane, the alley behind the downtown strip club.
A 23-year-old man told police he was walking with a male friend when one of the suspects asked for a cigarette, which the victim's friend provided, according to the Boulder Police Department.
As the two friends turned to walk away, one of the suspects, with blonde hair, who can be seen on the left/front of the video, tackled the victim, police said. A second suspect then began punching the victim. And a third suspect grabbed the victim's friend when he tried to intervene.
Police said that was the extent of the altercation, with everyone then walking away in opposite directions. The suspects were last seen walking west on Lawry.
The victim who was assaulted suffered serious injuries, police said, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His friend was not injured.
The two men did not immediately report the assault, police said.
The video released by Boulder police shows the three suspects. The blonde suspect appears to be wearing a scarf, jeans and possibly cowboy boots. The other two suspects have dark hair and clothing.
Boulder police said a fourth male, seen on the right, is a bystander and was not involved in the assaults. Police have questioned him and he was not able to identify the suspects.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects is asked to contact Detective Chuck Heidel at 303-441-3339.
