An 8-year-old boy was transported to Boulder Community Hospital this afternoon after officials say he fell approximately 20 feet off a chairlift at Eldora Mountain Resort.
Boulder County emergency crews responded shortly before 3 p.m., according to police dispatchers.
The boy was riding on a triple chairlift meant to access the resort's beginner terrain and was near the top of the lift when the accident occurred, according to Eldora spokesman Rob Linde.
The boy's mother was with him and had lifted the bar on their shared chair when the boy scooted forward and fell, Boulder County Sheriff's Cmdr. Rick Brough said. The boy fell approximately 20 feet to the ground, but his landing was softened by a large snow drift below him, Brough said.
The boy was taken via ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital with "slight back injuries," Brough said.
