Boulder County and the city of Boulder will begin monthly testing of the countywide emergency sirens beginning Monday, according to a officials.

The testing will occur on the first Monday of each month from April through August. On testing days, the audible sirens will go off at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The first test will be this Monday. The other test dates in 2013 will be May 6, June 3, July 1 and Aug. 5.

Louisville, Superior and Jamestown sirens only will be tested on April 1.

There are 25 total sirens in place across Boulder County designed to alert residents to potential dangers from flooding or other threats.

All sirens undergo weekly "silent tests" throughout the year, but audible tests are conducted during peak flooding times and to increase public awareness of the location of the sirens.
