Every second of every day contamination is carried by wind and water as the Tokoyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) dumps water on the reactors, which then streams into the ocean and steams up through the ground and into the air. Soil contamination reports continue to come in. Los Angeles, Portland and Boulder, so far, have the highest radioactive particle contamination out of the entire U.S. .No U.S. city is free of Fukushima contamination.
Only recently did the first member of the U.S. Congress make a visit to see for himself the toxic shambles of the Fukushima reactors.
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, sent a letter to Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki which read:
"The scope of damage to the plants and to the surrounding area was far beyond what I expected. The precarious status of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear units and the risk presented by the enormous inventory of radioactive materials and spent fuel in the event of further earthquake threats should be of concern to all and a focus of greater international support and assistance."
There are scientists who believe that the Pacific Ocean is dying. ASR, a global and coastal marine consulting firm, created the Radioactive Seawater Impact Map a year ago to track free-floating material from the Japanese coast out into the Pacific.
On its website, the vast digitally modeled movement of the floating material, which contains an unknown amount of radioactivity can be seen -- including radioactive Iodine and cesium, strontium, plutonium and uranium,
Why don't we all know about this? Why has only one member of congress been alarmed about it?
For sure, the information is suppressed. Could it be related to a recent New York Times article citing recent studies showing that "10% of people who work on Wall Street are 'clinical psychopaths,' exhibiting a lack of interest in and empathy for others and an 'unparalleled capacity for lying, fabrication, and manipulation'?"
Is the Fukushima silence a result of economic incentives always overriding good judgment?
Nuclear power executives who wantonly forge ahead to build more reactors in the face of the apocalyptic events ongoing in Japan, and the knowledge that this is an inherently unsafe technology may suffer from the same psychopathology. Stop them.
