T he Student Outreach and Retention Center for Equity here at the University of Colorado at Boulder is a great organization and resource for all students. SORCE functions as a resource center whose mission is outreach and support for underrepresented students on the Boulder campus.

The two main tenets of this mission are outreach and retention. SORCE outreaches its services to many K-12th grade schools across the nation and hosts them on campus tours, student Q&A panels and more. The retention aspect of SORCE's mission is to provide resources for students that are already on CU's campus. Whether SORCE is hosting bi-weekly chili pot events, having students utilize its resource computer lab center, providing mentoring, or just having students volunteer, there are many ways that students can participate for retention purposes.

As we come upon Halloween, it is a special time to not only have fun with friends and dress up, but it is also the first inaugural SORCE week celebration. This event is a week-long celebration, starting today and ending Friday. The purpose of this week is to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of SORCE and its students and staff by providing fun programs and activities that fall into our mission of retention and outreach for underrepresented students on this campus. Our SORCE week events, as well as our day to day events, are always open to all students, staff and faculty members to attend and enjoy. You can find our office in UMC 227 which is down the hall past the reception desk and gallery.

Our SORCE week events for the week are as follows; free food will be provided for each event:

Monday, we have a CPR workshop presented by community health located in UMC 227.

Tuesday is the 3rd annual trick or treat and sex education workshop with community health from 3-4 p.m. in UMC 227.

Wednesday we have our first study slam event from 1-5 p.m. in UMC 227.

Thursday we have movie night with SORCE, where we will be showing Marvel's "The Avengers" in UMC 227.

We are excited to hopefully see you all come and celebrate our community with us during SORCE week. If you have any questions or concerns you can email us at sorce-cu@colorado.edu or come visit us in our office at UMC 227.
