N icole Kidman gave birth Monday to a baby girl named Sunday.
In a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press, Paul Freundlich, a publicist for her husband, Keith Urban, said: “Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning, July 7, 2008, in the United States. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed 6 pounds, 7 1/2 ounces. Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well.”
Urban posted a message on his Web Site that said: “Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.”
A-ROD WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE
Alex Rodriguez’s wife filed for divorce Monday, calling her husband an adulterer who “emotionally abandoned his wife and children.”
“The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct,” according to Cynthia Rodriguez’s petition for dissolution of marriage, filed in the family division of Miami-Dade County Circuit Court.
The New York Yankees third baseman, who earned his 12th All-Star selection Sunday, has refused to comment on his relationship with Madonna, who denied any romantic involvement with the slugger in a statement posted Sunday on people.com.
BRINKLEY TESTIFIES
Christie Brinkley, testifying Monday at her divorce trial, said it was a “nightmare” to put on a brave face and throw a birthday party with 30 kids after learning that her husband had an affair with a teenager.
But the model, who loves making birthday cakes, said such homespun family celebrations are part of a lifestyle that means the world to her.
“That’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted,” she said. “That’s the most important thing — to have a big, happy family.”
Brinkley, 54, described for the court a seemingly idyllic lifestyle: an old farmhouse, “full of life,” brimming with children’s music and art, and beloved pets.
She said she tried to spare her two young children the messy details of the breakup, including her discovery of husband Peter Cook’s Internet pornography habits.
She told the children: “I think daddy has fallen out of love with me.” But she assured them they would always be “very, very loved.”
The couple married Sept. 21, 1996, following a whirlwind courtship of about five months.
Now, they are arguing over custody of the children, ages 10 and 13. Alexa Ray Joel, 22, Brinkley’s daughter with “Piano Man” singer Billy Joel, is 22.
Last week, Brinkley testified that her world “was completely shattered” by news of the affair. “My life as I knew it had vanished.”
NO REUNION FOR ABBA
Despite the astonishing success of the stage musical “Mamma Mia!,” ABBA has ruled out any reunion tour.
Songwriters Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of the Swedish pop quartet told Britain’s Sunday Telegraph that ABBA will never perform together again.
