A debate between President Barack Obama and Rush Limbaugh? If it ever happens, Dick Cheney will be in line for a ticket.

“I’d pay to see that,” the former vice president said Sunday.

The radio talk-show host challenged Obama to a debate after administration officials criticized him for his comments on the new president’s economic plans and for saying he hopes Obama fails.

In an interview Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Nation,” Cheney said he disagrees with former Bush administration speechwriter David Frum’s assessment that Limbaugh is “kryptonite” because he drives voters away from the GOP.

“Rush is a good friend. I love him. I think he does great work and has for years,” Cheney said. “I think Rush is a good man and serves a very important purpose.”

On his nationally syndicated program earlier this month, Limbaugh said: “I am offering President Obama to come on this program â without staffers, without a TelePrompter, without note cards â to debate me on the issues. Let’s talk about free markets versus government control. Let’s talk about nationalizing health care and raising taxes on small business.”

CarlU, it’s not ‘guts’ that would keep Obama from debating a drug addicted criminal, its intelligence. As for ‘showing how really stupid this president is’, usually those who graduate at the top of their class are not considered stupid.Add that he was top of his Harvard class suggests you’re the stupid one.Add that it was Harvard Law School and may I suggest you go back and get your GED.Do that and you might even realize it was the GOP led by Limbaugh that led us into this financial collapse.See what happens when you take advice from drug addicts with erectile dysfunction? Unless you were talking about the president that just left office than I think an overwhelming majority of Americans would agree, he was just plain stupid.

Answer one question, what would Obama and the nation have to gain from such a debate?

If President Obama feels Rush is important enough to publicly chastise him then it’s hard to make the argument that engaging Limbaugh in a debate would be “stooping to his level”. I think it would be interesting – two loquacious, influential men who are fiercely beholden to their ideology; but I’m sure it will never happen. The President is a politician; debating Rush Limbaugh carries the risk of hurting his agenda with no real chance of advancing it.

And I love the childish name-calling the Hope and Change crowd engages in whenever a Republican’s name is brought up. You guys should practice what you preach. And captainendeavor, real classy. You’re no better than the wing-nuts you despise.

But Obama is good and he can handle him I am sure. It will go a long way to putting some sense into all this people that think Limbaugh is so smart and right.

George Bush was slammed by virtually the entire entertainment industry for the better part of 8 years. He ignored it, as all presidents should.Obama, who is broadly loved by Hollywood and the news media, goes out of his way to talk about the one…single… entertainer that doesn’t act like he wants to sleep with him. What a fool. And how insecure are all the liberals up in arms over Rush’s comments? What, 99.9% of the entertainment world isn’t enough? You need 100% of them to love the stuffed shirt too? Please.

I don’t like Rush, but that was a huge tactical blunder of Obama’s.He legitimized Limbaugh with his comments.

Nope.Anyone who says he would enjoy watching another person have a heart attack is a loser. But you probably already know that.

You fools act shocked and dismayed that a DJ said he wishes Obama fails, then turn around and say you want to watch someone you don’t agree with die.It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.

Dr_Johnson

3/16/2009 6:51:35 PM

CarlIUD, I would be curious to know if you thought Bush was a genius?Yeah, thought so.This president looks like Einstein compared with his predecessor. Are people that party blind or what?Blind faith is what led Germany and Japan into their “nationalism” in the 1930’s.

Call a spade a spade, but the reality of the situation is that Bush is going to be remembered as one of the worst presidents ever, Herbert Hoover for a new generation, the father of the 21st Century Depression. He fiddled while Rome was burning.Obama is much more intelligent than Bush could ever dream of being.

Obama is polished and cerebral, and I welcome that refreshing change.Bush was not the president of the people. He was not in office to serve all the people. He was there to make his rich friends richer. He failed the people of the United States and they voted his party out.

Time will be the true judge of Obama, much as it will of Bush.I believe Obama is much more in touch with reality and middle America. He will do what it takes to make the country prosperous again, not just serve on small interest group like Bush did.I am a republican who believes Obama is much more fit to lead this country than Bush or McCain ever were.
