Brian Robertson

BOULDER, Colo. –

Boulder police have arrested a 65-year-old former youth soccer coach after officers found child pornography on a computer inside his home, according to police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley.

Brian Robertson turned himself in to the Loveland Police Department on Friday on a Boulder warrant accusing him of one count of sexual exploitation of children â a felony.

Police said they started investigating Robertson in November after the Federal Bureau of Investigation informed local investigators that criminal images had been sent from an Internet address linked to Robertson’s home, in the 1000 block of Lincoln Place.

Detective Jack Gardner executed a search warrant at the home in January and seized three computers, according to Huntley. Police found “a large number” of pornographic images of children on those computers that they believe Robertson downloaded from the Internet.

There’s no indication at this time that he made the images or was involved in sexual conduct, Huntley said.

Officers later determined that Robertson previously worked as a youth soccer coach in the Boulder area. At this point, investigators don’t have any evidence that any additional crimes occurred, Huntley said.

Robertson, who was released from the Boulder County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond, is prohibited from contacting anyone younger than 18 while he awaits trial, Huntley said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the allegations can call detective Jack Gardner at 303-441-3330 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, call the non-emergency dispatch line at 303-441-3333.

onoma, thanks for the info but can you try reading your post before you post it. It is very confusing? I get your point about checking. But what about the sex offenders in Martin Acres and Devils thumb? Then what is the story on your last sentence, make no sense? Are you directing it to someone?Head coach John at what time?

Omona, why is it necessary to call someone out here?

BTW all soccer clubs who are part of AYSO, YMCA or CYSA have to have volunteers, board members and coaches etc go through background checks. Each person must pay for this check. Its required. There are other clubs with coaches who have come under fire for DUI, domestic abuse and other questionable behavior.

You should not name names without backing it up as you may find yourself involved in a lawsuit.

PS: Just because you checked the background of a person(s) does not mean you will get a positive hit. The person in question must have a record. No record, no information will be brought up. Get a clue.

Backbay, what year did the mandatory checks commence? As an ex-coach and board member, I’d love to hear.

This is why Boulder has a sex offender registry. When my children played soccer through Boulder Force, no checks were made by the Soccer Club.Parents need to check. One sex offender lived in Devil’s Thumb and two in Martin Acres. It was also necessary tocall social services to have an abusive coach removed. He was placed as a coach on another team – adolescent girls.

Remember, John Welsch, Boulder Force Head Coach at the time? How about this guy?I don’t remember him.

Back ground checks began within the past 9 years. It was mandaotry for all. All BOD, all coaches, all volunteers, all persons who are with the children. Other clubs and childrens groups have done it before CYSA(CSYSA). I had to do it with my club thru CSYSA 8 years ago.

Also, You make an off handed comment using a name without facts or explaination. Why are you worried? Is it about whether this person coached for Force or are you naming the aboved for another reason?

Again without a record, what is it that you hope someone to know about? Would you expect to find something when nothing exsists. Exsisted?

How does naming the above serve any purpose other than for you to vent about something? Is he registered somewhere? Are you hoping to find information about him? Somehow I think you know he isnt you just needed to bring in a name and there was no point to it.
