Could Colorado rule the Grammy Awards this year?
Local music heroes The Fray were nominated this week for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo or Group with Vocals for the 2010 Grammy Awards show. The program will air on Jan. 31
That means the Colorado boys will be up against The Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Colbie Caillat for Best Pop Vocal Album. And the Fray will compete against the Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Daryl Hall and John Oates and MGMT for Best Pop Duo or Group with Vocals.
A few other artists with Colorado ties also earned Grammy nods.
OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder got received two Grammy nominations for his songwriting work with superstar Beyonce.
India.Arie grew up in Denver and she was nominated for Best R&B Album, Best R&B Performance by A Duo or Group with Vocals and Best Urban/Alternative Performance awards.
And new age artists Peter Kater and Kitaro have spent time in Colorado — and they were both nominated for Best New Age Album.
In other Grammy news: The Record of the Year award nominees are Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon, Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift.
And “Album of the Year nominees include Dave Matthews Band, Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
