Various University of Colorado Club Sports teams will be holding organizational meetings at the Recreation Center on campus this week to recruit new team players.

Patty McConnell, Club Sports coordinator, said joining a team is a great way to stay active without the pressure of playing for a NCAA team.

CU’s Club Sports will host organizational meetings this week at the Recreation Center. For a full list of times and sports, visit colorado.edu/rec-center/clubsports.

“Club Sports isn’t as regimented as NCAA teams,” McConnell said. “Even though we have practices, competitive games and coaches, school still comes first.”

Club Sports teams are comprised of CU students, who compete against other college teams across the nation, McConnell said.

“If the student isn’t good enough to make an NCAA team, Club Sports is a way for them to further their career in sports,” McConnell said, “especially for those students who have been playing competitive sports since high school and want to continue.”

Differing from Club Sports, Intramurals are comprised of CU student teams who solely compete against other CU Intramural teams.

Intramural registration takes place from Jan. 19 to 21. Pick up a form outside the Intramural Office in the Rec Center for more information. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis until all leagues are full.

McConnell said if students aren’t able to make the Club Sports meetings this week, they can obtain more information online at colorado.edu/rec-center/clubsports.
