Here’s the week’s top reality TV news:

‘The Amazing Race’

It looks like the new season of “The Amazing Race” will be pretty amazing.

Last go round, the reality show got failing grades for its boring competitive tasks and personality-challenged teams.

That’s why the producers stepped up to the plate and popped the new season out with a bang.

Let’s just say, the new contestants didn’t know what hit them.

The race’s first task suspended teams over Chilean terrain — while attached to a scary high wire set up. Married couple Dana and Adrian Davis couldn’t even finish the task, so they were the first team expelled from the show.

The new “Amazing Race” cast should make this season very interesting. This crew includes a pair of bumbling undercover cops, two very confused cowboys, a ditzy Miss Teen South Carolina-turned-model and her boyfriend — and a very competitive duo from “Big Brother.”

Catch “The Amazing Race” Sundays on CBS.

‘American Idol’

There’s lots of “American Idol” news.

For starters, the show announced its Top 24 finalists.

That means Lilly Scott of Denver and Haeley Vaughn of Fort Collins made the cut. While both singers aren’t the strongest of the lot, it’s nice to have Colorado represented on “AI.”

In more Colorado “AI” news, former finalist Ace Young is heading back to Broadway.

Boulder’s Young is going to New York to star in the revival of “Hair.” The singer previously appeared in Broadway’s “Grease.”

Young earned the lead role in “Hair,” so he’ll star as the hippie tribe leader Berger. “American Idol” finalist Diana DeGarmo is also on board for “Hair,” and she’ll play the female lead Sheila.

Will these squeaky-clean singers pass as “Hair’s” street-wise hippies? Or was this a marketing ploy to entice a younger Broadway audience?

‘Celebrity Fit Club’

Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach was out of shape when he debuted on this season’s “Celebrity Fit Club.”

The show’s coaches must’ve done their job, because Bach put his fitness tools to the test for his buds in Guns N’ Roses.

Last week, the band played a secret New York City concert. Unfortunately, an unidentified man pulled out a switchblade in the middle of Guns N’ Roses’ set.

No worries. The leaner, post-“Celebrity Fit Club” Bach tackled the troublemaker and gave him the boot. “Celebrity Fit Club” trainer Harvey Walden would be proud.

“Celebrity Fit Club” airs Mondays on VH1.
