When life gets boring, there’s always hair.
Hairstyles can spice up a dull wardrobe, whether it involves color, highlights or accessories.
In this drab economy, change your entire look by simply curling, braiding, chopping, bleaching or embellishing.
Here are five trends to try out for this spring.
1 Waves
Look vintage chic with the 1940s-style pin-up model waves. Pick up a double-barrel curling iron and press in some pretty waves (go for soft waves, not curls). Wear the hair on an off-center side part. Pair some red lipstick with the look and you are so film noir.
2 Feathers
Peacock, multicolored feathers, white feathers against dark hair, feathers with jewels and even bold-colored fluff makes a perfect accessory for the hair. The look can be perfected with headbands, clips or barrettes.
3 Bleached eyebrows
Lightening the eyebrow hair two-to-three shades lighter than the hair color is creeping in as quite the rage for 2010. This, however, is a huge fashion risk, so first use makeup as a lightener to ensure satisfaction. Then, move on to the facial bleach, peroxide or even lemon juice as lightening agents. If it’s a disaster, well, praise be to eyebrow pencils.
4 Crops
Short hair trends are looking toward dark-colored bobs with bangs or medium pixie cuts mixed with some longer fringe and messy bangs. Think Jessica Alba or Victoria Beckham. The 1970s, messy, layered short ‘do also makes a comeback this season. These styles make for an easy get up and go look.
5 Braids
Braids make life so much easier. But sometimes they also make life look a tad childish. Lucky for convenience, two braid trends are popping up in 2010: a long, side braid and the fishtail plait braid. Both looks made appearances on the catwalk during last week’s Spring Fashion Week 2010 in New York.
