Meet new "Top Chef" judge Eric Ripert.
Meet new “Top Chef” judge Eric Ripert.

Here’s the reality TV news of the week:

‘Top Chef’

The Bravo execs were keeping the new season of “Top Chef” top secret. The show’s seventh season takes place in Washington, D.C., and details of the show were harder to find than a CIA file.

That’s all changed.

“Top Chef” just revealed all the details of its new season in the nation’s capital, so here’s the scoop:

For starters, we have two Colorado contenders in the pack. Chef Kelly Liken currently lives in Vail, and Kenny Gilbert resides in Telluride.

In the good news department, that sniveling little rat judge Toby Young finally got the boot!

During the “Top Chef: New York” season, Young told Boulder’s Melissa Harrison that her dish tasted like cat food. Hope he ends up cooking for Burger King.

Noted chef Eric Ripert will replace Young. The New York restaurant owner has judged dishes on previous “Top Chef” seasons. He can be picky, but he has been pretty fair to the contestants.

The new “Top Chef” season also will feature special Washington, D.C., guests.

Former astronaut and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Buzz Aldrin will guest star this season. Hopefully, it won’t be a challenge to create a dish someone would eat in space.

In addition, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, White House Chef Sam Kass, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough and CIA Director Leon Panetta are set to appear on this season’s “Top Chef.”

This is not the crowd you want to serve an undercooked dish to.

“Top Chef’s” new season begins June 16.

Reality finales

“American Idol” is getting down to crunch time and viewers just voted off Michael Lynch.

The judges recently saved Lynch from elimination by using their viewer-vote override, but it wasn’t enough to rescue the soulful singer. The three remaining finalists are Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James.

Bowersox is the one non-generic singer left in the pack, so hopefully she’ll win this year’s contest

Also, model Krista White just won this season’s “America’s Next Model.”

White was one the few contestants that wasn’t a nutcase, and she did take the best photos. Sounds like a winner to me.

Host Tyra Banks can now work on her debut novel, “Modelland.”

‘Pretty Wild’

It’s no accident that Alexis Neiers stars on E! Entertainment’s reality epic, “Pretty Wild.”

The show features Neiers and her dysfunctional sisters whooping it up in Hollyweird, but truth can be stranger than fiction.

Last week, Neiers pleaded guilty to a felony burglary charge in Los Angeles. It seems the house she broke into belonged to actor Orlando Bloom. He obviously doesn’t believe in pirating outside his “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
