Word is, the wardrobe budget for “Sex and the City 2” was in the neighborhood of $10 million.
Well, we all know Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) possesses the posh tastes of exclusive designers (not to mention an obsession with pricey Manolos). And we all know the clothes in this iconic TV-turned-film series play almost as big of a role as the main characters themselves.
The second film adaptation of HBO’s popular series following four best girlfriends and their sexcapades in New York City hits the big screen Thursday.
This time around, Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall style their way through the United Arab Emirates while on vacation.
Here’s how to grab each style from your favorite girl.
Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, has always been the risk-taking artsy dresser. In the sequel, she sports short dresses, gold heels, gold aviator glasses and even pairs a full, dressy skirt with a Dior T-shirt and Manolos. That’s Carrie for you.
Must have: Parker’s white, short jersey dress that can be sported as a casual piece or dressed up with heels at night. Sure, it’s probably $500-plus right now, but look for cheap knock-offs once the movie hits screens.
Davis’ Charlotte York-Goldenblatt has always donned the prim and proper conservative styles. There is no exception for this film. Charlotte rocks the color-block trend, Christian Dior skirt suit and vintage Valentino blouse. Her preppy country club look is always paired with the proper purse and shoes.
Must have: Davis carries a $6,650 Christian Dior Pink Lizard handbag in the flick. So beautiful. However, go for the faux lizard handles. It will be cheaper, not to mention kinder to our reptile friends.
Nixon’s Miranda Hobbes has always made the career woman look good. The buttoned-up lawyer brought class and style to corporate pantsuits and business attire. In the film, Miranda wears earth and gold tones, printed dresses and ankle-wrap heels.
Must have: Nixon wears a super sexy pair of $795 Yves Saint Laurent Triumph beige platforms. Try Nordstrom for cheap knock-offs.
Cattrall’s Samantha Jones oozes so much sex that it leaks into her wardrobe. In “Sex and the City 2,” Samantha is seen in a short black cutout dress, killer heels to show off those gams and pricey clutches.
Must have: You know that unfortunate scene where Samantha and Miley Cyrus show up to a premiere in matching dresses? Well, that silver, gem-encrusted, belted mini dress is hot. Do not buy the real thing. It’s $3,500. Wait for Forever 21 to pump out a cheap version.
