“We’ve been trying to create a more identifiable and focused sound,” guitarist/vocalist Aaron Keim said. “We sound more like a band, and we’re playing a really interesting mix of funk and rock.”

The Boulder Acoustic Society has been busy in the studio with former Colorado musician Jefferson Hamer. The economy’s been rough, so the band’s been offering sponsorships to pay for the new CD.

“We’re getting sponsors — just like public radio,” Keim said. “Some people pledge money, we’ve written songs for some people and we’ve done concerts at people house’s for the pledges. We’ll even make breakfast for you and play music.

“The new record is folkier and more rock than people have heard us play, and we removed the world music vibe. We hope to have the record done by September.”
