The Boulder Nordic Club’s annual ski swap and expo takes place on Wednesday night at Boulder High School, and like every of the 19 swaps before, there should be plenty of deals on Nordic skiing equipment.
In addition to individual swappers and local vendors, like Boulder Nordic Sport, resorts like Snow Mountain Ranch and Devil’s Thumb Ranch will be at the swap, selling last year’s rental and demo fleets, said Toni Geer, president of Boulder Nordic Junior Race Team.
Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the swap will go to the junior team, which had another big season last year with four racers placing in the top 10 at the junior national championships.
The swap is cash or check only.
Geer said it helps to know what you want or need before you head to the swap. But if you’re not sure, there are plenty of people on hand to help shoppers with questions about sizing and appropriate equipment.
“An entry level skier can usually find a pretty good pair of skis for a decent price” at the swap, Geer said.
The resorts — including Eldora — also sell passes at the expo.
Geer said last year’s swap pulled in about $5,000 for the team, which was big contribution to its general operating fund. But the swap and expo is also a big night for Boulder’s community of Nordic skiers.
“It’s a great fundraiser, it’s a one-night event, it ends up being really social,” Geer said.
