Political satirists Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno of The Yes Men will be featured at the University of Colorado’s Conference on World Affairs Athenaeum Series on Feb. 1.

The public event titled “The Yes Men: Fixing the World One Hoax at a Time” is hosted by the student-run program — modeled after the university’s CWA conference held in April — that brings acclaimed speakers to campus to interact with students in classrooms throughout the year.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the University Memorial Center Ballroom.

Bichlbaum and Bonanno, better known as The Yes Men, put on large-scale hoaxes — like impersonating public figures and creating fake Web sites and press announcements — to raise awareness of social and political issues.

Past speakers at the event include Sister Helen Prejean of the DVD series “Questioning Capital Punishment,” Monty Python’s Terry Jones, journalist and author Susan Faludi and author Richard Rodriguez.
