The University of Colorado is ranked No. 1 in the nation this year with 117 graduates serving as Peace Corps volunteers, the university announced today.  

This is the first year in school history that CU has been ranked at the top of the list, despite being ranked fifth overall in Peace Corps volunteers since the organization was established in 1961. Approximately 2,269 CU alumni have served in the Peace Corps over the past 50 years.  

The University of California, Berkeley holds the No. 1 all-time rank with more then 3,400 alumni volunteers.

Among large colleges and universities with more then 15,000 undergraduates, CU-Boulder holds a solid lead with the University of Florida trailing in second place with 97 current volunteers. The University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Washington were also among the top five this year.
