Colorado Daily Rock finders the Circosta family, from left to right Leo, 6, Renee, Amelia, 4, and Gary Circosta.

Rock veterans win again — a Boulder man whose wife once found the elusive ColoradoDaily.com rock found one of his own this morning at 6:15 a.m. after searching in the same general area multiple times, he said.

Gary Circosta found the rock hidden along the west side of Macky Auditorium behind a larger rock with a plaque that reads, “In memory of Tom Christensen.”

“Wednesday, I knew it was at Macky,” he said. “I did some research.”

“There were footprints at the sign at Macky,” he said, but it was too snowy for him to find the rock.

Thursday’s clue, “I’m siblings with the First National Bank,” only confirmed his suspicions.”That’s Macky, that’s his bank,” he said. He went back and looked again, to no avail. “I spent an hour in the dark.”

Friday’s clue, “I’m buddies with Yo Yo Ma, Penn and Teller and REM, to name a few,” sent him right back.

“Today, I got up at 5:30, got the paper, read the clue. I was so not looking forward to going back,” he said. “It was 12 degrees when I started on Thursday.”

Renee Circosta, Gary’s wife, said he’s been working hard. “He’s been getting up before the kids,” she said. “He so deserves this.”

The family seemed split on how to spend the winnings. While Gary and Renee mentioned snow tires, medical bills and groceries, Leo, 6, said he wanted to spend it on monster trucks and the circus. Amelia, Leo’s 4-year-old sister, suggested candy.
