NIGHTLIFE: Boulder this weekend — burlesque, kegs, eggs and sore legs

I t’s a weekend for alcohol-lovers and athletes alike.

From those toning up for the weekend race to those simply searching for a way to spend the first of their three-day vacation, there’s plenty out there kick-start your weekend.

Nurturer, or a bit more eclectic?

Madonna.

Talk about a loaded name.

On the one hand, you’ve got the cone-covered pop star blowing up loud speakers at half-time shows and Top 40 charts.

On the other? A biblical figure as assorted in reputation as the aforementioned celeb.

But do religious texts paint a fair picture of that enduring Madonna of yore?

Boulder Burlesque is here to help you decide.

Madame Mercy Chaos and The Sexy Sinners put out all the stops in “Madonna Meets Whore,” a blend of burlesque dance, comedy and social commentary aimed at showing all sides to this culturally confusing woman.

Like any good woman, it’s got a little bit of everything, from sensitivity to scandal, dancing the lines between too much and just right.

So get your fill of lust and love, and head to Boulder Theater for your weekend’s dose of biblical burlesque.

Info: Saturday at 8 p.m.; Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St.; $12.50-$16

Taste of tequila

While the rapid-fire repetition of salt/shot/lime sums up most of our weekend tequila experiences, The Bitter Bar is here to take the glass slam out of our alcohol adventures.

So set down your margarita mix, give your blender a rest and head to the Corrido Tequila Tasting, where sipping on liquor may be the slower (and ultimately more responsible) choice for your weekend drinks.

And while your mouth enjoys the flavors from their kitchen, keep your mind occupied by Nomad Beads‘ presentation on how to make your own jewelry.

Just another piece to wear out later, when your tequila-inspired thoughts lead you out to the late-night Boulder bars.

Info: Saturday at 4 p.m.; The Bitter Bar, 835 Walnut St.; $30

Bad Case of the Mondays? Not This Week

I’ve never been one for too much physical activity. A good, buzz-fueled bar hopping down Pearl usually sums up my weekend workout.

But for all those more athletically inspired, running the Bolder Boulder this weekend (kudos to all of you, by the way) West End Tavern has your Monday morning pick-me-up.

So forget the coffee and indulge instead in Kegs, Eggs and Sore Legs, where those who pumped through the run can recover with a breakfast buffet and pint of Avery Beer.

Wear that race-day bib and score a free glass.

Break out of your box and try something new. I mean, how can you go wrong with burlesque, beer and beading?

Info: Monday 10 — 11:30 a.m.; West End Tavern, 926 Pearl St.; $10
