Red Rocks announced today that Gotye will play the Amphitheatre on August 22 in what will be the first show of his North American fall tour.

Gotye’s sudden popularity in the U.S. is thanks to the wild success of his latest single “Somebody That I Used To Know,” but he’s been well known in Australia and the U.K. for several years. Prior to Making Mirrors, he released an album called Like Drawing Blood in 2006 that earned him the iTunes Album of the Year title in the U.K. and the Australian equivalent of a Grammy.

Kimbra, the singer featured on “Somebody That I Used To Know,” will only appear at the Dallas tour stop. Opening the show at Red Rocks are Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins and South African multi-instrumentalist Jonti.

Tickets go on sale June 8 at 10 a.m. and will run $38.50-$42.75. Anyone who has liked Gotye on Facebook or signs up for the fan mailing list by midnight EST on June 4 will get advance access to tickets.
