Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon teamed up with Yoko Ono to record a 14-minute song, “Early In The Morning.”
The track will be released on iTunes and Amazon on June 19, but the best way to snag it will be on 10-inch vinyl, out the same day. The limited pressings — 1,000 will be made — will include an etching from Yoko Ono on the flip side.
Profits from “Early In The Morning” sales will go to the Ashinaga Rainbow House, which is building a branch of its children’s community spaces in the Tohoku region of Japan for victims of the March 2011 tsunami.
Moore will be in Boulder this summer teaching the Summer Writing Program at Naropa University, as he did last year. He’ll also play a show at the Boulder Theater on Wednesday, June 27, and another at the Larimer Lounge on Friday, June 29.
