Ligeia Mare, a collective of Boulder and Denver area musicians, will be at Absolute Vinyl on Saturday night.

The music is difficult to define, but it includes heavy improvisation, avant garde rock, “pure sound,” and free jazz. At the group’s core are multi-instrumentalists Farrell Lowe and Dave Willey, who started bringing the group together after a modern dance production at CU Boulder. There are as many as 15 additional collaborators, including electronic musicians, guitarists, drummers, flautists, trumpeters, keyboardists, saxophonists, and singers.

The evening will also feature an exhibit of a series of portraits from local artist Griffin Duncan.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and donations are requested.
