Tomorrow, I plan to take on the frightening task of listening to nothing but Top 40 radio. All day. So today, I’m filling my ears with goodness in the form of the entire catalog of The Roots.
Game Theory is considered one of the best albums the legendary hip-hop group has released. It’s definitely in my top three, along with last year’s undun and 2008’s Phrenology, and it includes a touching tribute to J Dilla.
Go-to tracks: “Bread and Butter,” “Here I Come” and “Game Theory.”
If you’re looking for a sort of Roots history lesson, have a listen to 1996’s Illadelph Halflife, too.
(And check back on Friday for my thoughts on my day of Top 40.)
