H ope you trained well this winter. It’s time to start racing again.
This weekend marks the unofficial start of cycling and running race season here in Colorado.
Spring race season begins
On Saturday, get your spring cycling season started at the Louisville Criterium. Races start bright and early at 7:15 a.m. and go all day until the last race at 5:25 p.m. The race is part of the 2013 Spring Cycling Confederation Cup, and the course is 0.7-mile Centennial Loop.
The Boulder Spring Half Marathon is also this weekend..
At the Boulder Reservoir, pick between a half-marathon, 10-miler and 5-miler, which start at 8 a.m. Sunday.
And for those of you who are not running on Sunday, Niwot Road will be closed from 8 a.m. until noon on Sunday.
The Dash and Dine 5K series begins Tuesday, April 9th, and runs most Tuesdays through May 21. These Bolder Boulder qualifying races begin at 6:30 p.m., and a post-race cookout begins at 7:15 for socializing and schmoozing at the Boulder Reservoir. For each person who runs, the race production company will donate $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Sport climbing nationals in Boulder
Watch the nation’s best roped climbers compete for a spot on the U.S. national team at Movement Climbing and Fitness Gym on Friday and Saturday. Finals for sport climbing begin Saturday at 7 p.m. with speed finals following. It’ll cost you nothing to watch the preliminary rounds on Friday and Saturday morning, and $7.50 for finals.

Get your skiing while it’s hot
It’s closing weekend for many Colorado ski resorts, including Crested Butte and Telluride.
To celebrate Crested Butte is hosting a snowmobile competition and festival Saturday and Sunday called Roost the Butte. Events include Snocross, Hillcross, Hill Drag and Snow Ovals, and the resort has teamed up with X Games organizer Joe Duncan to make the weekend as badass as possible.
Also for closing weekend, you can attempt to ski or snowboard across a 50-foot pond during the Slush Huck pond skimming event on Saturday at Crested Butte.
At Monarch, take a kayak down a racecourse with berms, banks, bumps and a pond at the end during the 8th annual Kayaks on the Snow event on Saturday.
