Confession time.

I’m a big baby when it comes to the scary stuff. Like with horror movies. Or wind. Or driving at night in the rain and/or snow. Or darkness in general.

Or when your roommate walks ahead of you into your dark apartment and then acts like they’ve been grabbed by a psycho killer around the corner, leaving your shrieking like a schoolgirl and sitting cross-legged in the doorway. (I still argue it’s a viable defense. Pathetic-ness as a get-out-of-murder-free card.)

Course, that doesn’t stop me from watching said scary movies. Just turn off all the lights, get under the blankets and then proceed to plug the ears/cover the eyes all night. (Genius moment No. 342 of me and my group: Getting cartilage/tragus piercings in both ears and, hours later, watching one. Made ear-plugging a mother f***er.)

My pals also find it charming and/or hilarious to scare me mid-movie.

I need new friends.

Anywho, I’m sure I’m not completely alone.

And for those of you who like to blatantly do stupid things you know you’ll regret (like me!), The Dairy Center (2590 Walnut St.) has “The Shining” playing Sunday — the Jack Nicholson classic, and the version that Stephen King hated. But hey, Stanley Kubrick sure can scare the pantaloons off ya.

So make Sunday a bit spookier and head over to for showtimes and tickets. And come ready to enjoy a talkback after the film. “You, with the wet pants. Discuss.” Sounds fun.

Wanna get a little buzzed before you go?

Trick question. Of course you do.

So head to Avery Brewing (5763 Arapahoe Ave.) for the great Rumpkin Release par-tay at 5 p.m.

This pumpkin brew — aged in rum barrels until it’s just right — is just part of the fun that night. Rare beers will also be out and about, ready for your sipping delight.

There’s also the Great Rumpkin Raffle. It’s benefiting the Foothills Flood Relief Fund, and buying that $10 ticket will get you a complimentary pint and a chance to snag a case of Rumpkin, two tickets to the Boulder IPA Fest in November and Avery gear.

Those raffle tickets will be available 2 to 5:45 p.m., and the drawing’s at 6 p.m.

What to do before Sunday …

I vote you visit Bacaro Venetian Taverna (921 Pearl St.).

On Saturday, not only will Jon Weiss be playing from 8 to 11 p.m. on the rooftop, but happy hour runs from 10 to 11 p.m. for grub and 10 p.m. to midnight for booze.

Even better, they’ve got that snazzy new Bloody Mary Bar on the roof Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. AKA: A way to sneak some drinks in waaaay before 5 p.m. They’ve got five signature Bloody Marys and a chance for you to get creative and make your own.

Fun tip: Actually play Bloody Mary in the bathroom post-drinking. Though the spinning could be problematic …

All around good time, so long as this rain quits being a punk-ass and lets us enjoy this weekend.

Stay safe, you sexy people.
