You wanna rock and roll all night. And party every day.
Well, children, pull your heads out of your asses, because unless you’re not Trust Fundstein, we actually have to work for a living.
Except for Saturday. Let’s get drunk and rock. Cassleman’s, 2620 Walnut St., Denver, is hosting the Denver Rock-N-Roll Pub Crawl at 1 p.m. The day of drinking will offer four bars and four bands for $18 — featuring Denver rock bands Steele & Colfax, The Whicker and Pine, The Kinky Fingers and The Stubby Shillelaghs.
Check in is at Cassleman’s at 1 p.m., where you will be assigned to a group and a color, travel with your new homies to the bars and then wind back up at Cassleman’s. Dress like a rock star. Or Bieber, whatever. There will be prizes for best costume, so just dress up. Back at Cassleman’s later, you get a goodie bag and a dance party.

With all these Cons going on, nerds are gonna need some clones. This weekend in Denver comes the AnomalyCon. This particular Con is “Denver’s Premier Steampunk, Science Fiction and Alternate History Convention.” The convention will be held Friday (2 p.m.-midnight) Saturday (8 a.m.-midnight) and Sunday (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Denver Tech Center Mariott, 4900 S. Syracuse St., Denver.
Among tons of vendors, there will be numerous ways to win prizes, including: costume contest, a balcony decorating contest (if you get a hotel room, that is…), mustache contest, LEGO contest (bring your own or build on site), hovercraft contest (make one at home and bring it to the race) and there will be Doctor Who trivia.
Also among dozens of musical performances, artists, authors and famous guest stars, Strange Artifact, a “steampunk rock” band from Tokyo, will be performing.

Growing in Denver popularity is this weekend’s Vegan Prom on Saturday from 8 p.m.-midnight at the Mercury Cafe, 2199 California St., Denver.
The third-annual prom is a chance for you to put on that fancy pants outfit and help the vegan grocery store, Nooch, raise funds for the Peaceful Prairie animal sanctuary, which gives abused and factory farm animals and castaways a chance at life and lifelong care, located in Deer Trail, Colo. Aw. I’m sold.
There will be delicious vegan snack food, plenty of adult beverages at the cash bar and, of course, a big ol’ dance party. Be sure to dress prom because there will be a photographer.

What do a tank of helium, a bunch of latex and sculptures have in common?
A frat party!
Um. Or the Festival of Balloons, held at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel, 1550 Court Pl., Denver, on Sunday from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The festival will feature balloon art — but not the cheesy weiner dog by Bozo the Clown. There will be professional balloon artists from around the world creating more than 200 life-sized sculptures (some with lights, animation and sound, even).

Ye old Denver sound
My favorite Denver band is playing at my favorite Denver venue and I can’t go. BOOO.
So you go for me. You won’t regret it. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, a gothic Americana, dark gospel, alt-country, of sorts(on Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles label) will be performing at the Bluebird Theater, 3317 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, tonight at 9 p.m. Most of the decades-old crew doesn’t even live in Denver anymore, but still call us their home. Thanks pals.
Slim live is unlike much you’ve seen. Go get gritty on East Colfax.
