Whether you turn to us for new music, listen to your friends over the airwaves, or host a show yourself, Radio 1190 has something for you.
College radio goes far beyond broadcasting. It’s about counterculture, community and creativity. Volunteers help with audio production, art, journalism and way more, too, all the while earning hours toward becoming a DJ.
We host tons of events throughout the year such as First Thursdays in partnership with the CU Art Museum and live music at Innisfree on the Hill. Whatever your thing may be, come find us in the basement of the UMC to check out the studio or get involved.
Tune in to 1190 AM Denver or 98.9 FM Boulder, or visit radio1190.org.
Here’s a little preview of what to expect on the air.
Degrees of Separation
Hosted by Alan Tett
5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays
Alan is chill, erudite and full of facts. His show Degrees of Separation explores the community of side projects and collaborations of respected independent artists, anything from Grimes to Fleet Foxes. With a new artist every week, there’s tons to learn.
News Underground
Hosted by Jared Bahir Browsh
6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

The Morning Show
Hosted by Lily Hetherington
7 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
We have several morning show hosts, and we encourage you to listen every morning. Radio 1190 works hard to provide the best independent music to make your morning commute go by a little faster. Local Shakedown
Hosted by Grace Eun Cho
4 to 6 p.m. Fridays
Local Shakedown always has and always will be the best show on Radio 1190. Hosts and times may change, but 1190 has always strived to maintain a genuine connection with local music in Colorado, and we continue to do so every week. Listen every Friday for a plethora of new music from your own backyard and live, in-studio performances almost every week. Grace has the voice of an angel and unparalleled taste. Turn your dial to Local Shakedown to discover tons of new music and support your community.
Party With Me Punker
Hosted by Bodhi Shane Melnitzer
4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays
Party With Me Punker is not for the fainthearted. It is, however, for the punks, freaks, outcasts and fools who want to have a good ol’ time listening to punk. Bodhi, who has been collecting punk records for decades, plays all vinyl and encourages listeners to sing or, better, scream the lyrics along with him over the AM airwaves. Check it out for vinyl, fun and impeccable punk knowledge.
