The University of Colorado Boulder started demolishing a building it owns on Broadway last Thursday.

Demolition work has begun on this building, seen here in September, that once house a Starbucks at the corner of Broadway and University Avenue.

Last week, fencing began going up around 1402 Broadway. Interior demolitions began Friday. It’s expected to be fully demolished by mid-June.

The adjacent parking to the east of the building will not be affected by the demolition, and sidewalks along the south and west sides of the building will also remain open.

The building at the northeast corner of Broadway and University Avenue was formerly a Starbucks, which closed last year. CU Boulder plans to redevelop the site after demolition into a hotel and a conference center.
