CU Boulder CAPS not prescribing new medications to students this summer

Students will be referred to community providers as the department hires new staff

Counseling and Psychiatric Services, or CAPS, at the University of Colorado Boulder is referring students who want to start new medications over the summer to community providers as the department hires new staff.

CAPS has fewer psychiatric appointment slots this summer as some staff have recently resigned, according to CU Boulder spokeswoman Deborah Mendez-Wilson.

Students who want to restart medications after a lapse in seeing CAPS psychiatric staff also will be referred to community providers, she said.

Those who have been seeing CAPS psychiatric providers regularly can still schedule appointments over the summer.
