Eastbound U.S. 36 is fully closed at Wadsworth Parkway/Church Ranch Boulevard as crews work to complete ongoing emergency repairs to heavily damaged pavement.
As of 12:34 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation did not have an estimated time for when the highway will reopen. CDOT strongly advises alternate routes, including Colo. 128/120th Avenue to Sheridan or Federal Boulevards, Wadsworth Parkway to Church Ranch Boulevard, or the Northwest Parkway toll road to Interstate 25.
A giant crack in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 prompted the repairs, which CDOT originally said would divert all traffic to the shoulder.
Matt Inzeo, a communications director with CDOT, said commuters should plan to use an alternate route at least through the weekend and possibly through the week. He said the road’s shoulder will only be opened at select times, so drivers should continue to plan as if U.S. 36 will be closed.
