The Boulder Police Department is accepting applications for its Community Police Academy.

The free, 13-week academy will be Sept. 4 to Dec. 4, with a break over Thanksgiving.  All sessions will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Participants must be at least 18 years old, live or work in the city of Boulder and agree to a background check. Class size is limited to 20 participants.

The academy seeks to promote cooperation, education and understanding of police operations, a news release stated.

Applications are available at Boulder Police Headquarters, 1805 33rd St. Applications also are posted on the department’s website at bouldercolorado.gov/police/community-police-academy.
