The 20th annual Lafayette Peach Festival returns to Old Town this weekend.
On Saturday, attendees can enjoy all types of treats full of Palisade Peach flavor.
The annual event centers around world-famous, all natural Palisades peaches. There will be smoothies, cobblers and pies, along with food vendors, crafters, antique dealers, and with artists from the Front Range and Western states showcasing their work.
“There will be about 197 vendors,” said Pat Vero, director of events and marketing for the Lafayette Chamber. “There will be jewelers, potters, anything hand-crafted.”
More than 30,000 pounds of certified organic peaches from Morton’s Orchards and Tate Orchards will be available throughout the festival.
“I’m very happy for the growers, they do so well every year,” Vero said.
There will be 600 fresh peach pies, 150 9×12 pans of peach cobbler and individual servings of peach cobbler, and more than 2,500 servings of smoothies while supplies last. The treats will be for sale at Festival Plaza and in front of Lafayette Florist.
Chamber officials are anticipating 20,000 people throughout the day to attend the festival.
“What better place to everything in one place,” Vero said. “I love it because everyone loves it. They come year after year.”
The kids’ stage is located in Festival Plaza. Some activities for kids include free face painting and balloon sculpting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Vero said there will be a petting zoo and a barrel train near west Cannon Street, as well as inflatables, which she said will have a fee.
Vitalant Bloodmobile will be holding a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on South Public Road near Kimbark Street.
Seating is available near the Main Stage, next to Lafayette Florist, next to El Mercado and in front of E Z Pawn.
Parking is available in surrounding neighborhoods.
Barricades will be placed at West Cannon Street, East Cannon Street, West Emma Street, East Emma Street and Kimbark Street at the entrance to the festival.
