Boulder City Council on Tuesday approved an update to an agreement with Boulder County to streamline a tax collection process.

The city since 1996 has collected construction use taxes for the county, for a fee of 5% of the revenue the county’s use tax generates. The fee is used to cover the costs of the city’s collection. In 2018, the city kept about $124,000 in revenue from the county taxes, according to city documents.

The tweak approved Tuesday allows the intergovernmental deal to be updated to reflect voter-approved use tax rate changes without a formal amendment to the agreement. It was the eighth update to the deal.
